Control your search display in Yahoo!

TechCrunch has the scoop on an upcoming feature from Yahoo! search results - the Open Search Platform. The idea is to allow developers to connect through an API and update the information and aesthetic display of their site in the search engine's results page. From the TechCrunch Article:

[Third parties] can simply change the way a result linking to one of their pages appears to the searcher, and add additional rich media and links to structured data.

The idea is to enhance the content and eye-catch ability of your search results. Now might be a good time to figure out what your audience is looking for by reviewing your site analytics tool. Check out the search terms and figure out how you can make these part of the search result listing. For instance, here is one way I would tweak our search results:


In case you are wondering, Google has tried something in the past with their Subscribed Links that sounds similar to Yahoo!'s Open Search. I haven't (yet) tried the Subscribed Links.
