Are Social Networks Drowning?

Could we be at the beginning of the social network extinction? Are users beginning to realize the time-sink created by the likes of Friendster, Facebook, MySpace and Second Life? If you take this user-generated video as ultimate truth, then the answer is 'Yes' on both accounts.

I think relevance and sustained usefulness is really the key. You can only say hi to so many 'lost' classmates before the whole concept jumps the shark and you're not ALWAYS looking to network.

I think, like many things, the vestiges will remain, but the networks will have to evolve into something more open.

Great video. :) I love Facebook's sweater.
